Brief

Introduction

The notions of time have always fascinated mankind. Throughout history we have contemplated time in relation to many aspects of our daily lives, our immortality or our existence in relation to the bigger picture of the universe. Many cultures include various myths and stories that contemplate and teach about time to explain this notion. Therefore, new technologies, like the Internet, have also been considered in time, through time or within time. Thus, the question is what fable can you tell through design about time within the Internet context?
Project Aims
The aim of this project is to allow you to develop the notions of time as communication tool when designing for the Internet. Through your practical outcome you are asked to question the importance and the role time plays in relation to design and the Web.
Project Task
In groups, explore the notions of time that affect your understanding of the Internet within its larger context of society, culture, politics and economic.

When identifying, what is time within the context of the Internet, consider how many of these notions are crucial to our understanding of the Internet and what are the possible lessons we can learn from these notions.

These notions of time can be also seen as opportunities or limitations when it comes to web design. In your group explore these ideas and choose one to be illustrated in your practical outcome.

For your practical outcome design a site that contains between 10 web pages. These pages should illustrate one aspect of time that you have chosen as a topic within your group. The site should function as visual and textual myth or story that can teach us something about time and its relation to the Internet. The web pages should communicate their meanings in creative ways and should come together to form a coherent message – the meaning of your fable.
