Working with myths

I wanted to use the counter-myth of a man exploiting himself as a metaphor for a sudden and inspirational creative process.

Use of Deviation
In a scenery like the one used in the first page the reader would expect birds flying or boat sailing instead I put three men flying (isolated in a contemplating process, still as something in the past) and one falling ( and in movement as something that is happening)
Using that deviation I tried to achieve that the counter- is not that strong so the image is is acceptable and to enable me to use only that part of it that I am interested as it is the idea of self-expression

Use of Metaphor and Metonym
Crystal Ball: magnifying glass to look through and analyse the year’s work. It also reinforces the idea of ‘having a future’ that the doing of a degree implies.
Screen and Explosion: one’s creativity
Men looking themselves: idea of auto-observation
Perspective implies time in this connotation

Structuralism analysis
I wanted to express the ideas of commitment with society in my role as a future designer, also the uncompressible nature of the creative process in its irrational and sudden nature. So that, I created a metaphor using someone exploiting himself I used the following structure in order get that meaning.

            Intuition : rational
            Expression : silence
            Freedom : restriction
            Justice : injustice
            Life : death

I removed all the cruelty of this to avoid any wrong reading and any interference with any dominant myths (as Barthes uses the term). I knew I had to isolate the image and make it seem not dangerous. So I set the action in very idyllic landscape and in a very unreal situation.(men with screens) In that tried to facilitate the reading in which the following relation between categories are made

            Reality : idealism
            Real : unreal
            Life : Death
